Max Is 6 Months Old!

Max is 6 months old!!! Yes it's the day that mommy's been waiting for ever since Max was born because now we have reached the target month for breastfeeding. Mommy no longer feels guilty to give baby formula. We also started to give baby solids today. It was quite interesting to see how he took it. Max did alright. He finished half of what we had in the bowl. We hope he will grow to like solids and hopefully kick the habit of chewing foot!

*At his 6 month check up, Max weighed 7.9kg and 68.5cm long. His height and weight is average but his head circumference is 42cm which is below average. When mommy had the worried look in her eyes, the Dr looked at her and said, "your head is not so big too!" Okay. point taken.

Max is a Big Boy!

Mommy spends everyday with Max so sometimes people make comments about how much bigger he got, mommy really don't notice it that much. Lately, Grandma Vin Jan has been commenting about how Max looks like a big boy in web cam. Mommy took some photos of Max and through the lenses, saw what grandma was talking about. He does look like a bit more grown up and mature. We just wish that he has a big more hair.

Daddy Doing What He Does Best!

It's very strange. Mommy is the one taking care of Max at night. Whenever Max cries, it's mommy who gets out of bed, picks up Max and rocks him back to sleep. But daddy acts like he's one doing all the work. He's been putting up this act since the day Max was born and this trick doesn't get old. Dad slept in on weekends and when mommy asked him why is he so tired, he replied, "because I don't get any sleep on weekdays!" Upon hearing that answer, mommy really wants to smack him. Here's an evidence of daddy napping on a Saturday afternoon with Max, because he obviously didn't get enough sleep even though he slept all morning.

First Family Vacation

When grandpa and grandma were here in March, we took a quick family vacation to Sentosa. It is Max's first family vacation! Even though we only stayed 1 night at the hotel, it was still very nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of Singapore. Mommy and daddy didn't really have to take care of Max because grandpa and grandma were fighting to take care of him. They like to carry him facing outward, as if they're displaying a proud possession. After dinner, mommy and daddy went for a drink at the hotel bar and left Max with grandma. After 45 minutes, mommy decided to check in with them. Grandpa answered the phone and said, "Max was crying hysterically and mom took him to go look for you!" Well that put a quick stop to mommy and daddy's drinks. After the bill was paid, mommy and daddy went to grandpa's room to get Max, only to find him sound asleep on their bed. Grandma said Max started crying very loud and was very unhappy, so she brought him out to find mommy. However, as soon as they walked out of the hotel room, Max fell asleep. And he stayed asleep until 5am that day! It was indeed a vacation for mommy!

Max Rolls Over!

Yesterday was a big day in the Chai household because Baby Max finally learned how to roll over on his own! When Grandma Vin Jan was here, she kept encouraging him to practice. Sometimes it looked like he almost succeeded but not quite. Yesterday (Sunday) when we were just hanging out at home. Mommy put Maxi on the sofa and he began to kick and move around. Before we know it, his butt had flipped over and all that left was his head trying to tip over. Mommy and daddy were cheering Max on and with a little push, he rolled over. Later on, we started practicing without giving him any assist, just encouraging by voice. Finally! He did a roll over on his own. We were so happy and excited. Once Max got the hang of it, he couldn't stop keep doing it. Mommy put him on the playgym, and then looked down 10 seconds later, he's on his tummy! And every time he rolls over, he would lift up his head and have the biggest smile. As if he knows what he had just achieved is a major milestone.

We're Back From HK

Hi Everyone! We're back from HK and what a great trip! It was good to see all our friends and see all of Max's new friends. Max was a very good boy on the plane. We got a lot of compliments from other passengers about what a good boy he is. Sometimes mommy worry that maybe he's too quiet. Mommies just never run out of things to worry about. We will post photos from HK soon!
