Max Turned 5 Months!

There's the smile mommy's been waiting for! Max is 5 months old today!! And of course birthday nowadays always include a trip to the Dr. Max weighed in at 7.02kg today. Dr said he's gaining good weight and growing well. Max didn't know what the good dr was going to do to him, otherwise, he wouldn't have smiled at the dr so much. Regardless, he was a very brave boy, didn't even cry that much after getting his immunization shot. Because Max was such a good boy, mommy decided to go buy him a few new outfits! Ever since Max was born, mommy hardly bought any clothes for him. Most of his clothes are hand-me-downs or gifts from Grandma Annie. So mommy decided to splurge a little today. We love this brand called "Chateau de Sable" that we found in Singapore. It's designed for baby and kids from a French designer. I guess this designer is based in Asia because you can't find the shop in France. We got three outfits from this store as a gift. If we had known how good it looked on Max, we would have pulled it out earlier. He's not wearing them in this photo but was wearing them in the blog entry where he went to Angelica's house to swim and lunch at Natalie's. Now he has outgrown all three of them and mommy went to get a few more pieces. We want to look good for our friends in HK but it sure wasn't cheap! Mommy sure hopes that daddy doesn't complain when he sees the credit card bill.

Max Goes to Sentosa

It seems like we're always posting photos from a while back. Well it's been a while since mommy downloaded new photos. These photos above are from Feb when Aunty Andrea visited Singapore from Taiwan, and Max went to visit her at a very nice resort in Sentosa. Mommy and Maxi liked it so much, we asked daddy to take us there to stay for a night after he came back from Vancouver. It was a very fun day at Sentosa. Aunty Andrea's friend brought her two boys, plus Andrea's 2 boys, plus Max, we had a total of 5 boys, Max being the youngest. He couldn't really do much other than hang out and watched all the older ge ge swim, but we know that he had fun regardless, cuz when he got home that night, he was knocked out!

Grandpa and Grandma Are Here!

After a few weeks of spending time alone at home with mommy, finally rescue team has arrived! Yeah! Grandpa and grandma are visiting us from Taipei. This is grandma's third visit to Singapore but grandpa's first. The first day, Max stared at them for a very long time, just watching, and looking. Probably wondering who these people are. After a few days together, he has warmed up to them and loves to giggle when they are playing with him. Grandpa and grandma have been very independent and went around to explore by themselves. This past weekend, we took our first family vacation and spent 1 night in Sentosa. Sentosa is only 10 minutes taxi ride away, but yet it really does feel like worlds apart. Max went with us to explored new places and behaved very well. He'd always fall asleep when we're eating and sit quietly in his car seat with eyes wide open, trying to take in everything around him. Grandpa and grandma loved holding him and mommy is a little worried that he will want to be carried all the time after they leave.

We're trying to pin down a schedule for Max's daily activities. Now Max wakes up between 7am-8am. We then play, read or sing. Two hours later, it's time for a nap because Max will become very grouchy and fussy. He naps between 45 minutes to 1hour. After he wakes up, will stay awake for 2 hours and then take another nap. Mommy wishes that he can take a long nap in the afternoon for about 2 hours but he hardly does. Instead, he takes 3 short naps. Finally we give him a bath between 7pm-7:30pm, followed by a bottle. We put him to bed afterward and he is usually in bed by 8pm. However, the aforementioned schedule doesn't apply to the last 2 days because Max went out with the family for dinner. Also, in terms of breastfeeding, mommy noticed that Max takes short time to feed. He finishes in 15 minutes on each breast and sometimes even short and is good to go. Breastfeeding is not as painful anymore and mommy is starting to enjoy it more!

Swim Date with the "M"s

Daddy's friend from college Uncle Alvin and his wife Pamela came to visit Max during CNY. They brough along with them, the 4 "M"s - Maurice, Matthew, Marianne, and Mabel. Whenever the kids come to our house, they run around and tear our house upside down... no we're exaggerating. but sure it's fun watching them do it. They came over for an afternoon swim and snack, which turned to early dinner. The boys loved swimming in our pool because we were the only ones at the pool. The girls changed into their swimsuits but preferred to sit on the sideline and watch. When daddy jumped into the pool with the boys, he started chasing them around or throw them into the water. At one point, it got a little rough, and the boys started crying, which was hysterical for everyone else to watch. Max got into the water again, and we're not really sure if he really enjoyed it. Whenever he's in water, he's kind of silent and has a grin on his face. May be third time is the charm, and he'll like it more and more.

Lunch at Natalie's

We had lunch at Aunty Natalie and Uncle Geoff's house. They were one of the first friends that we made since we moved to Singapore. Aunty Natalie has always been so helpful with everything from restaurant suggestions to advice on maids. Natalie and Geoff visited Max when he was just a few days old in the hospital and have watched Max grown from a tiny little infant to a chubby baby. They have 2 beautiful kids, who are like mini-me of themselves.

Chinese New Years Dinner

This was the Chinese New Years Eve dinner at our friend Carmen and John's house. It just so happened that mommy and daddy were color coordinated in orange! We took some photos before leaving for the party because since it's a holiday here, it took 30 minutes to get a cab. Mommy likes the photo where she's holding Max because they really do look alike in this photo. At the party, daddy was holding Max and doing men's talk with the husbands. Max was listening very quietly as if he understood what they were talking about and pretended that he was one of the boys. Mommy was busy stuffing herself with lots of yummy food.

Daddy is finally coming home tomorrow after being away in Vancouver watching the Winter Olympics. He was gone almost 2 weeks and we believe that Max has put on some weight and gotten bigger. Wonder how Max will react when he sees daddy. Guess we will find out soon!
